Abstract:

As one of the most important contemporary American naturalistic writers John Haines was the Laureate Poet in Alaska. He insisted that poetry creation was integrated with localities and rooted in the vast wilderness ofAlaska. He advocated looking at the land and seeing history breaking the boundaries between time and space drawing lessons from nature and traditions and opposing the self-centered introspection. During the process of his personal experience in wilderness a unique "night vision" was developed to hide the poet and to allow the reader to come to the center of the poetic scene thus realizing the ideal linking language with the earth in poetry.
